Django Unchained: Another Great Work of Art by Tarantino

** Spoiler Alert **

I watched this today with the boyfriend and thoroughly enjoyed another Tarantino film. So many laughs, so many moments where I felt completely disturbed, and other moments where I was just blown away in amazement.

Jamie Foxx’s performance was unlike anything I’ve seen him do before; such intensity in a straight face and so much drive and passion in his mission. I think when Django took on the role of another character (pretending), he started to become that character. He lost his submissive nature and became this not-to-be-messed-with, stone cold dude who, maybe for the first time in his life, did what HE wanted to do the way HE wanted to do it.

I love when Quentin Tarantino makes cameos in his movies. He played what sounded like an Australian, and of course he gets blown away like he usually does! It makes me so excited about the industry, just seeing how diverse jobs and skills are.

Kerry Washington is such a darling. I’m a big fan of the TV series Scandal and she’s completely the opposite of who she is in that TV show. All power has been stripped of her, she’s terrified and been so emotionally damaged, patronized and buried under the wicked manipulation of slavery. Still she has such a beautiful and compelling performance.

Christoph Waltz. Oh that man. He is just SO good at what he does. He plays the “good guy” this time unlike his ruthless, knifing yet brilliant character as Hans Landa in Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds. In Django Unchained, he’s just as clever, creative, and eloquent in language but he wins us over with his fondness of Django.

Definitely one I recommend, but the fighting scenes are very, very graphic (as expected), where if someone gets shot, blood just doesn’t seep through their clothes, it explodes out. Totally unnecessary Tarantino, but that’s his style lol. And there’s a bit of nudity one should watch out for. Not recommended for children for sure.

All in all, I enjoyed it. Great story, great acting, great soundtrack!
